The short version

Joblume is built to need as little of your data as possible. Searching for jobs needs no account at all. An optional account (email or Google) unlocks extra features — a personal application tracker and the option to save resumes to your account — and the only things we then store are your email, the application rows you save, and any resume you explicitly choose to save. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising or cross-site trackers, and we do not keep your resume unless you choose to save it. This page explains exactly what happens to your information when you use the app.

1. Accounts are optional

You can run resume and job searches without signing up at all. If you want to save jobs to the application tracker, you can create an optional account with an email and password or with Google. When you do, we store your email address (to identify your account), the application records you save, any resume you choose to save, and — once your email is verified — each job search you run while signed in (the parsed resume it used and the jobs it found), so you can reopen it later. Nothing else. Without an account, your job-search results are cached only on your own device (in your browser's local storage) for up to 24 hours so a refresh doesn't lose them.

1a. The application tracker (only if you sign in)

If you create an account and add jobs to the tracker, we store those rows — typically the company, role, link, location, pay, status, and the date you added them — in our database (Google Firebase / Firestore), tied to your account. Each account can only ever see and change its own rows. You can delete any row, or all of them, from the tracker at any time, and you can ask us to delete your whole account (see section 5). We do not use this data for advertising and we never sell it.

2. Your resume and how it's processed

When you upload a PDF or DOCX, the file is converted to plain text inside your browser — the original file is not uploaded to us. That extracted text is then sent, in real time, through our secure server proxy to our AI provider so it can identify your skills, experience, and location and score job matches. We also send anonymous search queries to our job-listing provider.

If you are not signed in, we do not save your resume text or your results on our own servers. If you are signed in with a verified email, each search you run is kept on your account (the parsed resume it used and the jobs it found, up to your 10 most recent, each kept for 7 days), and you may also choose to save a resume. Both are stored in our database (Google Firebase / Firestore), partitioned to your account so only you can see them, included in "Download my data", and deleted with your account. Compiling a resume or cover-letter preview additionally sends that document's LaTeX to an external compiler service to render the PDF. Apart from these opt-in actions, to keep the service free we use community-hosted AI models (via OpenRouter) whose third-party providers may log the text we send and use it to train or improve their models. Once your text reaches the AI provider, its handling is governed by that provider's data policy, not ours. Please avoid uploading sensitive personal information you would not want a model provider to retain. See How Our AI Works for details.

3. Your IP address (rate limits & analytics)

Because Joblume is free, we use your IP address for two narrow purposes:

  • Fair-use limits. We allow one resume search and one filter search per day. We temporarily process your IP to enforce this so the free service stays available to everyone.
  • Anonymous, aggregate analytics. We count daily unique visitors and the number of resumes uploaded. These are simple tallies — your IP is used only to avoid double-counting and is not linked to your identity or your resume content. If a page in the app crashes, we also record the technical error message and the page it happened on (never your resume or personal data) so we can fix it; these error reports may also be processed by Sentry, our error-monitoring provider.

We do not use advertising pixels, ad networks, or cross-site marketing trackers, and we do not build an advertising profile of you. See our Cookie Policy.

4. Third-party services we rely on

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the app. Your data may be processed by them only as needed to deliver your results:

  • Firebase Hosting & Cloud Functions (Google) — hosts the app and runs our server functions, including the daily-limit checks.
  • OpenRouter — routes requests to the AI model(s) that read your resume text and score job fit, and to OpenAI's embedding model that computes the quick match on every result (your skills, job titles and summary, plus the postings' text).
  • RapidAPI (JSearch) — supplies the live job listings from across the web.
  • Firebase (Google) — provides account sign-in (email/password and Google), stores the application-tracker rows and saved resumes for signed-in users; it also backs the hidden owner login.
  • Upstash (Redis) — short-lived counters that enforce the daily usage limits.
  • Sentry — error monitoring: receives the technical error reports described above, never your resume.

5. Your rights and control over your data

Because most of your data lives on your own device, you are in direct control of it. You can delete your cached results and usage counters at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct or delete it;
  • Withdraw consent to processing; and
  • Complain to your local privacy regulator.

You can delete your account yourself at any time from your profile page — it removes the account, every application row and every saved resume, and cancels an active subscription. For anything else, or if you would rather we did it, email us at junhojeon88@gmail.com. If you never created an account, we hold no resume and no profile, so in most cases there is simply no stored personal data about you to return.

6. International data transfers

Joblume is operated from Canada, and the providers above may process data in Canada, the United States, the European Union, or elsewhere. If you use the app from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from your own.

7. Security

We keep our keys server-side, transmit data over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and minimize what we collect by design. However, no method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the service at your own risk.

8. Children

Joblume is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the service, contact us and we will address it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and significant changes will be reflected here. Continuing to use Joblume after an update means you accept the revised policy.
